Notes of Guitar Fretboad

Notes Of Guitar Fretboard

In music, there are mainly seven notes which are known as "swars" in Hindustani music.
The Main keys or notes of music or guitar is - ABCDEFG
From these notes A, C, D, F and G have their sharpes or base. Whereas B and E do not have any Sharpe's or base note.
From my earlier post, we came to know about the full music series which is -

W - Whole, H - Half

From this full music notes series, we can find scales of these notes. Here we can see the letter 'W' and 'F' which denotes the whole step and a half step. Let's understand what is a half step and what is a whole-step -
A whole step is taken comprising two half steps. Here we can see the 'W' in-between 'C' and 'D', where we can find two half steps which are C - C# and C# - D. In the whole step we can find a full tone.
A Half step is taken by measuring each gap, in simple words from the figure B-C, E-F, D-D# these are half steps. Half steps consist of semitones.

Now Let's Look at the placement of the notes in fretboard -

You can make any scale using the correct notes in the fretboard-
For Example - We know the major scale formula which is WWHWWWH, Using this for finding C major scale we'll find. CDEFGABC, where first and last C is the root notes. Similarly, minor scales can be found by these notes.
When you arrange a scale by using this formula you can find the seven "swaras" of Indian music. Which are " Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa".

For C it will become -
C - Sa
D - Re
E - Ga
F -  Ma
G - Pa
A - Dha
B - Ni
C - Sa ( Root Note )
